Metazon is the child of the magic, atmosphere, and emotion that have always been a part of HipHop - With roots in Funk-Jazz-Fusion (Parliament, Allaint Toussaint, Earl Palmer, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Weather Report) Latin Music (Los Jaivas, Eddie Palmieri/Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe) as well as Afro (Fela Kuti, Lafeyette Afro Rock Band, Thomas Mapfumo, Tony Allen) Metazon is a live-instrument band, burning with warm vintage sounds. A unique fusion of Latin Funk, Jazz and Hip Hop in live band, Metazon creates a sound influenced by the greatest of the past, but makes music for the future.
Each member has his own distinctive background, and it is on the stage that we can most greatly appreciate these dynamic,musical spirits. The Band consists of "el Cotola" and "Beyondah", two-experienced mc's, masters of ceremony, engaged socially and consciously to improve their community. They manipulate words, metaphors and avant-garde lyrical flows and highlight a South American and Caribbean heritage. Marco Rodi is at the Bass, upon which his biggest influences are funk fusion styles. He is a young prodigy that represented Canada at an International Festival in France. There is also Mr.Oxtail in command of classic organ, electric piano and vibraphone from the golden era of jazz. And finally, Claude Alcime, whose drumming background spans Gospel and Rhythm & Blues, fits perfectly with his exciting pace and frenzied solos.
Metazon, the first band of Live Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk Fusion in Canada, stands to lay down their principles and positioning as creators in the 21st century. Metazon is a heavyweight in the Canadian music scene, they do shows for Michaelle Jean, the general governor of Canada, furthermore, they participate at the Francofolies of Montreal, they are invited several times at the Canadian Music Week and at the prestigious festival «Vue sur la relève». In this digital era of sampling and recycling, Metazon insists to compose their own music and thus, leave behind an original repertoire for the use of a future generation of artists. Metazon looks to rediscover the greatest classics of music and to offer an alternative where Hip-Hop doesn’t rhyme with crime, drugs and hatred but only with art, creation and devotion. After years of preperation, World Class Buffet, the first official album from Metazon, will soon be available.
