Beyondah

 

In 1977 a natural mystic was glowing in the air as the Exodus album from Bob Marley came to light and revolutionized the people’s mind and soul. And, with that aura a child was born with a new state of mind. Beyondah came to this world nurtured by Haitian parents who exiled their country to Montreal to start a new life away from the dictatorship of Baby Doc (Jean-Claude Duvalier). Coming from a well grounded family, Beyondah was destined to be a freedom writer of his generation. His dad, Michel Le Grand Toussaint, a teacher and writer, as long as his grand-dad, Charles Cameau, who wrote a poem book (Bouquet de fleurs d’amour), believes in the revolution of the mind. Influenced by artist such as Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Manno Charlemagne, Nina Simone, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye, Gil Scott Heron, Radiohead, Portishead, Coldplay, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beyondah takes his inspiration from different types of music. Along with architectural and interior design studies, Beyondah adds a new dimension and space with aesthetic in his writing structure and way of thinking. His latest single Ayiti Nou la wrote entirely in kreyol, sends a message of hope and love to all haitians after the earthquake killed at least 230 000 people in Haiti last january 2010.
